I could regale you with numerous stories about how I’ve been busy acheiving stuff and/or travelling the world and the cosmos, but that would be a lie.
I’ve been doing pretty much the exact same stuff that I always do, just without the urge to blog the latest electro remixes. I’m not going to write a lot of shit about how ‘this time it will be different’. It has too much of a wife beater vibe to it. Today I feel like posting a track by one of my new favourite bands, Wavves, and tomorrow I might want to share something else.
Enjoy.

Black Eyed Peas ft. 50 Cent- Let The Beat Rock (produced by Boys Noize)
Still can’t quite wrap my wide head around the idea of Will.i.am. shoutin’ out to Boys Noize on a hip hop track, but it seems like thats the way the wind is blowing these days. I remember reading once in a review of the rap group Clipse that Hip Hop was like a monster that swallowed every influence it could get its grubby paws on in order to stay fresh and relevent. So a few years ago you had lots of people using Bollywood influences on Missy Elliot tracks, and now big name rappers and producers are turning to dance music, or ‘electro’ as they as seem to call it, in a bid to stay on top.
It seems to be working as well, as the Black Eyed Peas track ‘Boom Boom Pow’ (Which is what ‘Let the Beat Rock’ eventually became) is one of the BEP’s best ever singles, and is catchy as fuck.
P.Diddy is on it as well, and I’ll bet anything that the next track from the whole Diddy/Felix Da Housecat collaboration will be a big hitter.
Enjoy the future my friends…ha.

I was scanning the interweb for something to distract me from my hacking 80-a-day cough this morning, and I found this article about a trio of professional dj’s playing some girls sweet sixteen birthday thing. One of the dj’s was Morgan Geist, the all round Techno/Disco production behemoth, and it was his half sisters party (I think?). The idea of these three dropping Missy Elliot and MC Hammer just tickled me. Check the article. Oh and of course check Morgan Geist, who also records under the ‘Metro Area’ alias.
Two new tracks today that I am enjoying, one a nice house burner from Lauhaus, bringing the dutch fire on Area Remote/Remote Area, it chugs along so nicely that 7 minutes have gone before you’ve stopped nodding your head. Well, thats what happens to me anyway. And the other is a beauty, with two of the new goliaths of the new disco skeen going against each other. I love Holy Ghost!, and I love Classixx too, so this is just full of win.
Lauhaus- Give It Up (Ray Okparalysed It)
Holy Ghost!- I Will Come Back (Classixx’ Acapulco Nights mix)
Love,
Ziggy
This is by far the best tune I can remember that mentions ‘Harry Potter’, with Spoek Mathambo (?), the South African rapper/producer who was on ‘Zombie Door’ w/The Bulgarian like last year maybe, and favours frenetic electro/bass hybrids and AC Slater remixes (there were loads on his last mix, available here)
Not really a fan of lots of Spoek stuff, bit mental even for moi, but this Djedjotronic EP is fantastic, easily the best thing out on Boys Noize for ages, every tracks a good un’. Well worth a bash.

P.S. Check the new HP film. I’d bring some Bobby B tho man, shit drags in the middle
I have been living mostly in my own head the last few weeks, and the only reason I’m taking a vacation from my thoughts is that I’m ill as fuck.
I’ve not been listening to a lot of music, but I have been getting into a couple of albums both past and present and listening to them from start to finish rather than shufflin’ up and down, which makes a nice change.
Which brings me to ASHER.
I copped ‘Asleep in the Bread Aisle’ from sometime BigBabyWheezus contributor eSSence, and its a really good summer listen, full of upbeat….beats and light hearted raps about weed and going out and stuff. Theres loads of catchy ass potential singles on it but my favourite at the moment is ‘La Di Da’, which goes pretty much exactly as you expect a tune called ‘La Di Da’ to go.

Couple tracks here that I’m feeling today. First is Slotmachine by Thomas P Heckmann, obtained from Ziggy not so long back. Very simple duplicated sample put to good use here, which makes this track very effective.
Slotmachine – Thomas P Heckman
Second track is taken from the album High Water by El-P, featuring the Blue Series Continuum. I listened to this album this morning to wash out all that jump up DnB from my system, and it worked a treat. Any fans of El-P must listen to this album, but don’t expect hip/hop, this is a jazz album, and a very dark one.
Nathan Fake- Castle Rising (Download via Redthreat blog)
Dusty Kid- America (extended mix)
For those who need some soaring synth work and/or an ’emo house’ fix.
That means you Andy
